APC CNC Mandrel Bending Machine

APC have invested in the most up to date and state of the art CNC mandrel bending machine available today. Partnering with Addison McKee Technologies the CNC Mandrel Bending machine commissioned in July 2008 provides unparalleled bending flexibility and performance.

There will be plenty of shops that will try and tell you that a mandrel bent exhaust offers no technical merit over a press bent exhaust - nothing could be further from the truth. In reality they will tell you this simply because your average shop cannot afford this level of investment.

Mandrel bends will flow approximately 35% better than a press bent exhaust, fitment and finish is superior and let's face it when you are spending what is a considerable amount of your hard earned you want the best technical and sound result.

Our bender is the only machine of it's type owned and operated by an automotive performance shop in WA, we don't just bolt on someone else's products, we R&D it and provide you our customer the most advanced custom built system available.

The AMT CNC Mandrel bending machine provides superb programming flexibility, we can for example load a program and then run the 3D simulation model to check for accuracy and orientation.

This allows for faster program development and higher accuracy in the final product. APC can even bend custom pipe to custom specification providing kit assemblies for shop and end user alike. APC have even supplied custom 316Gr stainless steel mandrel bent pipes for purpose built helicopter based fire fighting systems.

APC exclusively use 1.5mm wall thickness (WT) tube. Cheaper bolt on systems (invariably originating from China) use 0.8 to 1.1mm WT, which compromises structural integrity and often results in a tinny resonance in the exhaust system. Don't be fooled by how shiny (polished) as system may be, it is what it is made from that counts! Another little known fact is that a press bent system has to use 1.8 to 2.0mm wall thickness which can add as much as 15kgs to the vehicle mass.

APC Headers

APC like most performance based shops utilise products readily available in the open market place and base our packages and recommendations on this. Unfortunately this does not always allow for the best product nor does it offer a tangible point of differentiation.

Starting by developing mandrel bent pipework for our range of vehicles we have now expanded our offering to high performance headers combining mandrel bent 409Gr stainless steel bends with race winning collector technology.

Mainstream headers offer a blunt infill piece in the collector and this creates a low pressure zone in the collector adversely impacting scavenging performance, the APC merge spike eliminates this and provides significant gains in mid range torque and horse power as well as peak power gains.

Extend this to the optional merge collector assembly and you have the very latest in exhaust system technology under your hood. Originally developed by NASCAR engineers APC have taken a proven concept and brought this into mainstream availability at an affordable price.
