Choosing a performance exhaust can be difficult. A common misconception is that "bigger is better" and many people feel that huge diameter pipes are the only option for vehicle performance, however at APC we have found that in some cases large pipes just take the energy out of the exhaust by slowing down the exhaust gas velocity and by cooling off the gases. The exhaust may leave the port at 1500+ degrees but the tailpipe is down around 150 degrees, which evidences lost energy. Real performance-making factors come from velocity and uninterrupted flow.
The sound you feel inside the car comes from the low frequency energy range so big pipes increase this low frequency which causes an uncomfortable roaring or droning sound. However an APC exhaust system is custom designed for less restriction keeping the velocity and frequency high so the sound is behind the vehicle.
Due to extensive computer controlling in new model vehicles and 4-wheel drives, it may take up some 500-700 kilometers before the computer reprograms itself to reflect the improved flow characteristics of your new APC exhaust system.

How much horsepower can you expect to gain?
Since an engine is an air pump, APC's exhaust systems allow the engine to pump and flow more uninterrupted air. Horsepower increases depend upon the vehicle's fuel management system and its ability to provide the right amount of fuel to match the extra air-flow; 5 to 15% increases are not uncommon.
Will you get better fuel consumption?
Yes, a better performing engine uses less fuel more efficiently, increasing fuel economy under normal driving conditions. APC's flow through design and proper diameter tubing evacuate the exhaust gases out the system much faster and at a much higher temperature than factory exhausts. This results in performance gains and fuel economy.
